Gluten-free Creamy Healthy Hot Cocoa

Break Time: Smooth & Fabulous Hot Cacao

As I sit here watching the rain come down and feel the temperature dropping, I know it is time for a wonderful treat: fabulous, smooth, delicious gluten-free healthy hot cacao. . . . yum

cold, snowy rainy day

As far as winters go, I do not think we can complain too much about the snow this year – or the cold for that matter.

Here in PA, we haven’t been hit too hard by either the temps or the snow, in our area at least.  (The picture above is the only big snow we’ve had, and it didn’t stay around too long.)

This past weekend, the temperatures were in the high 50s to low 60s.  Hard to believe for February.  The plants and birds are so confused out there!

Today, we woke to rain and the temps dropping back to the 30s.  Not snow, but still bitter cold . . . snuggle-up weather.

My favorite break-time pick-me-up in this weather is a full-bodied, gluten-free healthy hot cacao treat.  Of course, I try to do this when everyone is at school and I can sit and savor every sip (don’t tell the kids!).

cup of hot cocoa

You will need:  coconut milk (or your favorite milk of choice), pure maple syrup & superfood Cacao powder

Warm about 1 1/2  cups of your favorite coconut milk either in a saucepan on the stovetop, or in the microwave.

(or your favorite cocoa powder) into your

favorite mug to really enjoy the experience.

Mixing up gluten-free hot cocoa, adding in the maple syrup

Pour the hot/warm coconut milk into your mug and stir it up really well.

Add about one teaspoon of pure maple syrup to your mug.

Time to enjoy your gluten-free hot cocoa

Next, find a favorite place to sit and enjoy!

Sip it slowly!

Take a break

Yum
