Gluten-Free Baking for Beginners Workshop

Gluten-Free Baking: HOW Do I Start?

Are you anxious about learning to bake gluten-free?

How long have you been waiting to finally have the confidence to try your hand at gluten-free baking?

6 months, a year?

Some have told me that they decided to just give it up completely.

Do not let your gluten-free life

stop you from baking!

I get it, I was afraid of baking gluten-free as well. It’s a whole new science.

Truth be told, we had a lot of flops at the beginning – too hard, too crumbly, too gross to even eat – before we figured it out.

But . . . we figured it out!

And then, there was no looking back.  I still remember the day we finally made a delicious chocolate chip cookie – great texture, flavor, and fabulous cookie all around – we were so excited!

Baking with my mom growing up, and baking with my children are dear to my heart. NOT baking is just NOT OK with me. I wasn’t going to let gluten-free living take that away from me.

Do not give up baking

Sharing delicious healthy treats with my friends and family brings me lots of joy. Baking is therapeutic.  It relaxes and energizes me. This is something I need.

How about you? Do you want to bake, or do you miss baking?

How do you bake gluten-free?

Let me show you how to

start gluten-free baking . . .

#1 Prepare your Gluten-Free Kitchen.

Start with cleaning out.  There are baking items you can keep and others that you need to donate or pass along to friends.  Think about anything that would cross-contaminate your now gluten-free baking. Pass along all of your gluten-filled flour – just get it out of your kitchen.

#2 Learn about gluten-free flours.

Did you realize there are many different gluten-free flours? You can buy them separately or premixed.  Of course, there are pros and cons to both.

#3 Learn about additives needed in gluten-free baking.

Gluten is the glue that holds together baked goods.  Without it our treats just flop.  You’ll need to add binders to help create a workable dough. Other ingredients can also add flair to your baked goods.

#4 Learn about substitutions for gluten-free baking

Learning about gluten-free flours to substitute for basic wheat flour is the first step. Other substitutions may be needed for dairy or eggs. There are lots of new items you can work with to create delicious baked goods.

#5 Be open to learning new strategies to work with gluten-free dough

You may need to look at things a little differently, as far as measuring, mixing, or rolling out your gluten-free dough.  Once you learn some tips and strategies you will be creating baked goods and gain confidence in the kitchen.
