What are your favorite things in the summer? Have you made time for it all?
Besides having my kids home and spending more time all together, I love picking blueberries, devouring fresh picked garden tomatoes, spending time with friends and family and hanging at the beach.
Thankfully I have had a great amount of time with my fabulous kids, both at home and traveling. We had a fabulous beach trip as a family. Always a great place to just relax and unwind from all the hectic running life gives us. Definitely my week of rejuvenation. Time at the beach is also great reading and thinking time – which translates to great ideas and programs for this coming year to share with all of you!
We just returned from a few weeks of visiting family and friends, which is always a great part of the summer! Many of us live far apart so these times are important to all of us. My daughter and I connected with some of my college friends who we haven’t seen in years. Being together was like we never parted – great to take that time, but it was much too short.
I finally made it to see my friend Missy Cohen’s Salt Room, Just Breathe, in Marlboro, MA. Unfortunately, we just missed each other so I had to peek in the windows! Next time we will schedule a visit where I can sit and rejuvenate in the salt room. If you are in that area make sure you check it out!
We had a fun day of traveling to the Berkshires with my parents. If you haven’t been, you really need to check out the Norman Rockwell Museum – such a piece of history. It really gets the kids excited to draw pictures of everyday things and happenings. Beautiful area!
We had plenty of blueberry picking up in MA with friends. Although, it was a cold and rainy day we all had fun and ended up with loads of blueberries. Which of course, we used them to make and then devour our fabulous blueberry pancakes!
We hit a lot of Farmer’s Markets this summer – pretty much in every location we have been. This is such a great way to keep on track of your healthy eating through the summer. We found some amazing, mouthwatering tomatoes and lots of other goodies!
And, new this year, visiting college campuses with my oldest! Exciting and sad all at once! This alone will bring me a lot to write about in terms of gluten-free living. We learned so much at each campus- so interesting to see how the world is expanding to include gluten-free living all around. I am looking forward to learning more about this topic and sharing it all with you!
Today was our first day of “summer is coming to an end soon . . .” as we started back for school activities getting ready for the school year. First day of getting up and out on time to be ready to start something great. A new school year will be upon us very soon . . . .
In the meantime, take all those favorite things and get them in before the kids are back to school and activities, and we moms are back to driving all over town!
