What is a Health Coach?

These days you may be seeing the term, Health Coach, more and more.  All for good reasons!  So you may be wondering . . . what is a Health Coach?

A Health Coach is a person who helps clients create healthy habits by making step by step changes to their diet and lifestyle.  They work towards lasting behavioral changes based on the client’s personal goals, which make a big impact on people’s overall health and well-being.  Health Coaches are not meant to replace doctors as they do not treat, diagnose, or prescribe medications.  They are an effective way to improve your health.

Our doctors are there to test, diagnose and cure.  They are not typically asking about daily habits, lifestyle and diet, all of which are critical aspects of our overall health.  Society today is full of people walking around with preventable lifestyle related diseases.  If a person is able to confront these issues, and understand them, they can improve their health, and that of their family, a great deal.  Health Coaches are the ones who can navigate that journey with you by inspiring, educating and helping you integrate the changes needed to reach your best possible health.

In working with a Health Coach you would meet face to face, over the phone or even by Skype.  Typically you would meet twice a month, for about 50 minutes per session.  This could vary per person and program offered. You would work together, discussing your health goals, lifestyle and changes you need or want to make.  Your Health Coach would be the person to guide you on your way, encourage you and educate you in areas of need – all to become the healthiest version of yourself.

As your Health Coach, I offer a wealth of knowledge on living a gluten free and allergy friendly lifestyle.  Cooking, baking and changing your recipes to suite your needs is a great joy of mine.  Encouraging you and pushing you to accomplish your goals in order to be your healthiest is my main goal as I would support you every step of the way.  No quick fixes but an education on learning sustainable healthy living to maintain the best you possible.
