If you are living gluten-free due to Celiac Disease or gluten-intolerance, you know that this isn’t always an easy road to follow.
There are many hardships we face, CONTINUOUS gluten-free hardships, not just when we start this journey, but things we need to think about daily.
And yet, this was thrown in our face last month during Celiac Awareness Month.
Gluten-free isn’t made-up
It isn’t a trend. It isn’t a fad. And, it certainly isn’t always “easy.”
We don’t need people who DON’T LIVE this lifestyle to be judging, commenting, or bashing us for a medical condition that we need to control EVERY day of our lives.
I needed to respond to this noise – so in this podcast episode, I’m opening up about the judgment, negativity, and misinformation that flooded social media during Celiac Awareness Month, and why it deeply affected the gluten-free community.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, left out, judged, overwhelmed, or exhausted by all the planning that comes with living gluten-free, please listen to this episode.
People who don’t live this lifestyle often have no idea what goes into staying safe and healthy EVERY SINGLE DAY.
In this episode, we’re talking about:
- Why Celiac Disease is a serious autoimmune disease — not a choice
- The emotional and mental load of living gluten-free
- Social anxiety, exclusion, and judgment within relationships and friendships
- The hidden stress of grocery shopping, label reading, and cross-contamination
- Why Celiac Disease changes a spontaneous lifestyle
- The frustration of hearing people dismiss or mock gluten-free living
- How to stop listening to negativity and start building confidence in your gluten-free life
This episode is also a reminder that while living gluten-free comes with real hardships and sacrifices… it is still possible to build a healthy, joyful, and fulfilling life.
You are not “too much.”
You are not difficult.
You are protecting your health.
And that matters.
If this episode inspires you or reminds you that you’re not alone on this journey, please share this episode with another gluten-free friend and leave a review for the podcast so more people find us.
Most importantly:
Keep advocating.
Keep educating.
Keep showing up for yourself and your health.
Because gluten-free living is real . . . and so are you.
